Small Victories

It was a particularly nice day in May when I decided that the girls were too hyper to be inside.  We ventured out to the front sidewalk with some of Lily's chalk and the promise of a decent nap in the close future.  The only problem is that Lily did not want to share her chalk with Addison.  For a good reason I must admit.  Addison is going through the well known phase of putting everything within reach straight into her mouth.  She's quickly learned that if any of Lily's toys will make it into her toothy grasp she'll have to be extra stealthy about acquiring said toy!  Follow along with me if you will...

She stands around patiently waiting for the big one to turn her back.

The big one takes a jump back to draw one last square for her hop scotch game as Addison still takes her time in waiting for the PERFECT moment...

The big one has made the crucial mistake of sitting down with her back towards the chalk.

The little opportunist strikes!

If only the clepto wasn't cursed with the shortest chubbiest little legs I've ever had the pleasure of squeezing!

"Curses to you chubby, uncoordinated thighs!!!"

Oh, the despair, the heartache, the lack of dry mouth.

Not only is Addison not allowed to have Lily's chalk, but she's also forced to watch one of the most obnoxious victory dances in history. Bear with me on this one...

Imagine leaping and many turns.

Look at how she basks in the glory of getting to play with all the "big girl toys".  If only she weren't so naive.  If only she realized that little sisters are resilient little creatures who will always find a way to get what they want.  If only.

She'll learn eventually that it's the small victories that count :)
