Intense Love

From the day we told Lily she was going to be a big sister she was super excited!  She felt it important to remind Daddy that he shouldn't hug me too tight because he might squish her brother.

She was definitely set on the idea of having a baby brother for the first half of my pregnancy.  She did NOT want a sister.  I'm pretty sure it was because she didn't want to share all her princess stuff.

I made sure to set up the big gender ultrasound for a day we had Lily so that we could all go and find out together.  She was so excited to see her baby brother on the tv.  Needless to say she was a little shocked when her baby brother ended up not being a brother at all!

She quickly grew to accept that she was gonna have a baby Addison.  It only took a small amount of convincing that little sisters are the absolute best!

She gave baby Addison lots of loves all of the time.  She would remind people that they had to say goodbye to Addison before they left our house.  She also went so far as to start counting me as 2 people.  It was great for my ego.

We had to teach her to be super gentle with my stomach because her favorite things to do were shake it super hard or squeeze it extra tight!

I'm pretty sure that she was under the impression Addison would get here and they'd play dress up, skip in circles, and hug each other lovingly every 30 seconds.

This was Lily and Addison's very first picture together.  If you'll notice, Lily is completely oblivious to her newborn sisters cries of distress.  I'm sure Addison recognized Lily's voice before the hug even started.

Now don't get me wrong, Addison absolutely LOVES her big sister.  Lily was the first one to make her laugh,  Addison claps everytime we pick Lily up and she'll give her kisses all day long.

BUT...

Addison doesn't like being hugged for any amount of time.

As I've touched on already, Lily isn't the gentlest hugger.  Her hugs are very... robust.  On someone of Addison's size, Lily's hugs usually turn into choke holds or rolling around on the floor.

My only issue with this entire situation is that Lily will only sit and smile for me now as long as Addison is in the picture!  So, now I have a bunch of fantastic photos of Lily who now looks like she's torturing her sister.

Here's some of my collection...

Lily was attempting to snuggle and Addison was obviously having none of it.

Lily = Happy.  Addison = Cranky.

You'd think she would have prepared for this in the womb.

Mom! Lily's touching me!!!

Come on Addison! Suck it up and smile.

You're gonna give your poor sister a complex!

Besides, she doesn't mean to bug you!  She's just showing you exactly how much she loves you :).

That's a LOT!
